  The elders of the 1980s are now in their 60s and 70s

  having just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.

  and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.

  many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.

  They are so ingrained in this cult they don't know where else to go. They do not have "worldly jobs, worldly friends, etc." If they left today they would have NOTHING.

  ^^This is what I've said about my mum.

  However she just took early retirement at 63, sold up her house near London and bought a cottage in North Wales. Not married, up in the middle of nowhere, doesn't drive. I'm being shunned so I have no real answer as to why she moved.

  It strikes me as strange though because 20 years ago when I left nearly all her JW friends would have been down south. I do wonder why she moved. She rang my wife the other night. Despite shunning me she tries to keep in contact. Wife put her on speaker so I could hear her (she didn't know I could hear her). She sounded happy. Happiest I have heard her in a long time and yet she just moved away from all her friends. I'm puzzled.

  awhile back, about a year and a half ago, when i was starting to wake up, i explained to my mom that when the circuit overseer is in town, they schedule shepherding calls after lunch, not because they care, but because they dont want to work door to door in the hot summer or cold winter.

  and they know that a prepared call means some nice hot chocolate and cookies or some ice cold tea and snacks.

  i remember her looking at me kind of funny so i ended the conversation and left it at that, and never brought it up again.

  WE NEED MORE MONEY! (Letter sent to Mexico re: JW Broadcasting of May 2015).

  i don't know if they're making similar arrangements in other parts of the world but below you will find the letter (and the translation attempt) they're sending to all the congregations in mexico and central america asking them to modify their september 21 and september 28 service meeting programs.. after watching jackson's gold apple watch and lett's pinky ring one can only assume they are a bunch of brazen, shameless and greedy bastards!.

  the letter has already been uploaded at the spanish forum and you can find it if you click here or see the attached picture.. the translation "attempt" is as follows:.

  august 1, 2015. to all congregations.

  Now do we know which intern Pope Francis is going to use? I think we can head them off at the pass and thus save ourselves from the GT (Not to be confused with G&T) for another while yet.

  thanks for the welcome Vidiot, I got settled on another forum and FB and kind of let this one pass me by. Always had thought I should join at some time or another.

  Probably one of the few religions that people feel they have to move to ANOTHER COUNTRY to get out of it!

  Thanks Faye. My Mum had a thing for Alan Ladd the actor in the movie of the same name. Needless to say it was before she converted as a witness because well watching Westerns and naming characters after movie heart throbs just wouldn't be acceptable.

  Was in Luton - Leagrave congregation from '77 to '95

  Then moved to Bantry, West Cork, Ireland and was in that congregation for about 2 months before DA'ing

  Welcome to the board Shane enjoy your stay.....20 years in Ireland ? A fan of Gaelic football ?
  You do know that us Aussies can beat the crap out of Ireland in Gaelic football don`t you .?
  Then again some Irish guys have made their mark in Aussie rules in Australian AFL , notably Jim Stynes .
  A legend here by all and sundry , a truly inspirational man in his field. sadly missed.

  Yes a big fan of gaelic games though due to my Limerick roots i tend to follow hurling rather than football. The wife is from Mayo so I follow them in the football. Problem is both Limerick and Mayo are chokers so many semi final and final losses over the years. It's hard work following them.

  Yes Jim was a legend and died way too young. Another lad who did well in AFL was Tadhg Kennelly.

  Now my First love sporting wise is a big clue from both my user name and my avatar. I'm rugby mad (Union that is and not that stupid league muck) Munster season ticket holder. Going over to the UK next month for one or two World Cup matches as well. Can't wait!
